What should I do if my pet swallowed human medication?
Call ASPCA Animal Poison Control: (888) 426-4435 or Pet Poison Helpline: (855) 764-7661 immediately. Have the medication bottle ready (name, strength, amount missing). Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed by a professional.
Are any human medications safe for pets?
A few can be used ONLY with vet direction and proper dosing: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for dogs, Pepcid (famotidine), plain Dramamine for dogs. NEVER give any medication without consulting your vet first - doses differ dramatically between species.
